Founder’s Bio

Mike Scotti is a former U.S. Marine who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He is the author of The blue cascade: a memoir of life after war (Hachette/Grand Central), and the subject, narrator and co-producer of the award-winning documentary Severe clear, for which he received the Fort Lee Film Commission’s Lewis J. Selznick Award for filmmaking.

Severe Clear captures the complexity and chaos of war using video footage he and other Marines shot during their infantry battalion’s fight in Iraq. The film premiered at South By Southwest, received a Special Mention for Cinematic Excellence at the International Rome Film Festival, the Jury Prize at the Salem Film Fest and the Barrymore Award. It achieved wide national and international release. 

In the US, the film is distributed by Inception Media Group, and in the UK by G2/Momentum Pictures (“The King’s Speech”). It is available under the title This is war in the UK, France, Australia and Israel. It is currently available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

Mike has written op-eds for the New York Times and CNN.com and appeared on the BBC, CBS, NBC, Last Call with Carson Daly, NPR’s The Moth, Sirius, and Sky Sunrise in the UK.

Mike holds an MBA from The NYU Stern School of Business, where he founded the Military Veteran’s Club.
